Who are the Knights of
Columbus?
The Knights of Columbus is
an international Catholic society. Founded by Father Michael J.
McGivney in 1882, the Knights of Columbus has over 1.7 million
members in over 12,000 councils dedicated to the ideals of Charity,
Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.
The name "Knights of
Columbus" was chosen to relate to Christopher Columbus, the Catholic
discoverer of America, and to signify that the membership embodies
the knightly ideals of spirituality and service to Church, country,
and fellow man.
For more information on the
Knights of Columbus and how to become a knight, click on the Supreme
Council icon at the top of this page.
How
do I become a Knight?
Contact
our Membership Director, John Miller, or any other member of our
council. You may also contact us via our website and someone will
get back in touch with you.
How
much are the dues?
Current
annual council dues are $40 per year. That includes all Supreme
Council, State and District dues, as well as a subscription to the
Columbia magazine.
Do I
have to attend all the meetings?
All
members are welcome and encouraged to attend all Social and Business
meetings. However, there are no attendance requirements to remain a
member in good standing.
When are the meetings?
Council meetings are held
the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month in Room 313 of the Ascension Ministry
Center. Meetings
begin at 7:00 PM.
What
are the service requirements?
We
would like you to participate in at least one activity each
fraternal year (July 1 - June 30). Each Brother should prayerfully
consider how they should best serve the council.
